# Base Station

# General

Q: Why do I need the Base Station?
A: The Base Station is needed to increase how precise a field is being painted by the Turf Tank One, and to ensure that this precision is repeated.
It furthermore allows you to always have a precise reference point for the field being painted. In contrast, Auto Mode uses a CORS network which is not guaranteed to provide the same level of accuracy where-ever you are.

Q: Do I need a Base Station for each Turf Tank One?
A: No, you don’t need a Base Station for each Turf Tank One. You can operate two Turf Tank Ones with a single Base Station as long as they are using the same frequency (channel). This is only recommended if all are within a visible line of sight of each other.

Q: Does two Base Stations make the accuracy better for the Turf Tank One?
A: No it does not. It actually makes the accuracy worse for the Turf Tank One. Typically the satellite widget will turn red, and the Turf Tank One will not operate.
Changing frequency (channel) will not help since the Turf Tank One and Base Station needs to run on the same frequency.

Q: Are there any requirements on where to place the Base Station?
A: To achieve the best painting results it is highly important to place the Base Station correctly. Guidelines are for placing the Base Station correctly is described here:

Q: Can I charge the Base Station during use?
A: Yes it possible to charge the Base Station while in use.
Further information can be found here:

# CORS and Auto Mode

Q: What is CORS?
A: CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Stations) is essentially a network of external Base Stations which provides position correctional data to the Base Station via wireless communication.  This enables the geographic position of the Base Station to be defined very precisely. However, position accuracy depends on the distance to the external Base Stations. The position becomes more imprecise the further away these external Base Stations are. These CORS networks are owned by third parties such governments or private companies.  In order to use a CORS network a continuously access is needed through a paid subscription plan to the network owner (not Turf Tank). This is similar to a mobile phone where you also need to pay a subscription fee in order to make calls, browse the internet, check mails, etc. Similar to mobile coverage, the CORS network also varies on coverage from region to region and country to country. However, if you have good mobile coverage it does not imply good CORS coverage.

Q: Why do I need a subscription for Auto Mode?
A: Auto Mode is using a cellular network called CORS and is similar to your phone and therefore requires a subscription in order to work. It is therefore much like your phone. Without a subscription for your phone you will not be able to make calls or browse the internet.

# Operational

Q: Can I use the same Base Station at different locations?
A: Yes, that is possible. However you will in the majority cases need to move the Base Station from location to location. If you are using Saved Position you will need to have a setup at each location to ensure that the Base Station is placed in the same spot every time.

Q: My field is created using Saved Position. Can I use Auto Mode to paint the same field (plan)?
A: Partially yes. Yes in the sense that you can paint the field. However, you will not directly be able to precisely overmark the previous field. You will most likely first need to move the field. If this is the situation (where you want to use Auto Mode instead of Saved Position) it is highly recommended to first check how the field aligns using the “Align” feature when loading a plan.

Q: My field is created using Auto Mode. Can I use Saved Position to paint the same field (plan)?
A: Partially yes. Yes in the sense that you can paint the field. However, you will not directly be able to precisely overmark the previous field. You will most likely first need to move the field. If this is the situation (where you want to use Saved Position instead of Auto Mode) it is highly recommended to first check how the field aligns using the “Align” feature when loading a plan.

Q: Can I move the Base Station if needed while the Turf Tank One is painting?
A: No, the Base Station must not be moved while the Turf Tank One is painting since this will distort the field.

Q: Can I create a new "Saved position" for the plans I already have?
A: Yes, but it is highly important to keep in mind that for "Saved position", the geographic position of the plans is connected to the Base Station as a reference point. If you move the Base Station you also move the reference point and therefore also the field. If you therefore need to move the Base Station you will afterwards also need to move each field if you want to keep the option to overmark. Furthermore, the new "Saved position" must be at least 25m away from the previous.

Q: When can I use the "Single Use" mode?
A: The mode "Single Use" can used in scenarios where you only need to paint a field once.
Examples of scenarios can be demonstrations and single time events.
