# Position Modes
The Base Station can use one of three different position modes. These are methods for creating a static reference point (fixed position) for the Turf Tank One to work of. Without such a reference point (Saved Position), it will not be possible to repaint a field exactly where it was painted the last time - the coordinates will have shifted and the position of the field would thus have to be corrected accordingly.
The modes are:
# Single Use
In Single Use mode, the Base Station creates a fixed position (fixed latitude and longitude) when powered ON that the position correction data is based upon.
Please note
- Moving the Base Station will move the fixed position.
- The fixed position will change if the Base Station is rebooted.
- The fixed position will remain the same if the Base Station is not rebooted.
When to use Singe Use:
- For demonstration purposes.
- For one-time events.
- If overmarking is not required.
Illustration above:
The Turf Tank One has painted the exact same field twice with the Base Station in the exact same physical position (same true position).
Field 1 is painted in reference to the Fixed Position 1.
In between painting Field 1 and Field 2, the Base Station have been turned OFF and ON (rebooted).
This has caused Fixed Position 1 to change to Fixed Position 2.
Since Field 1 is painted in reference to Fixed Position 1, Field 2 will shift an amount equal to the distance between Fixed Position 1 and 2.
This is the reason why Single Use is only ment for one-time events or demostration purposes.
# Saved Position
In Saved Position, the fixed position is saved onto the Base Station for recurring use. To use this in practice, the Base Station needs to be placed in the exact same physical position every time it is used.
Please note
The fixed position will not change if the Base Station is rebooted.
When to use Saved Position:
- If overmarking the same field is required.
Illustration above:
The Turf Tank One is set to overmark the same field with the Base Station in the exact same physical position (same true position).
Each overmarked Field will be placed on top of the previous since the Field is painted every time with the same reference to the Fixed Position.
# Auto Mode
In Auto Mode, the Base Station's position is established with the use of navigational satellites and ground reference stations. With this combination, the Base Station's position is determined with a very high degree of accuracy (down to +/- 1cm). With very precise coordinates for the Base Station's position, the Field will likewise be described with very precise coordinates. It is therefore possible for the operator to position the Base Station freely without having any information available about its location, i.e. having previously marked where the Base Station must be physically placed.
Please note
Auto Mode is only available with a cellular and CORS subscription.
When to use Auto Mode:
If overmarking a field is required
Illustration above:
The Turf Tank One is set to overmark the same field with the Base Station placed differently each time.
Overmarking is successfully made since the Field is described with very precise coordinates.
