# About Software Versions
A specific software versioning scheme is followed to distinguish between updates and the importance (or level of change) of each update.
The scheme is on the following form:
major.minor.revision
When a new update is released either one of the numbers will be incremented.
For example, version 1.4.2 is newer than 1.4.1.1 which again is newer than 1.4.1.
Major
Indicates a “major” update that contain significant changes, such as a new User Interface.
A new major version will always require the system to be fully rebooted (both tablet and Turf Tank One) after it has been installed.
It will furthermore also be a good idea the carefully read through the release notes and any related documentation.
Minor
Indicates a significant update that fixes major bugs or adds new features.
Revision
This number changes when ever non-critical bugs or improvements are added.
